BIO / POTI MARTIN

Poti Martín is a sound designer and engineer with over 35 years of experience, specialising in musical theatre, with broad experience in international productions.

Some of his credits as a sound designer include 9 to 5, Kinky Boots, School of Rock, Evita, As You Like It, Privacidad, Jesus Christ Superstar, Bailo Bailo, Sunset Boulevard, North by Northwest, Street Scene, The Last Confession, The Railway Children, We Will Rock You, Malinche, The Last Fairytale, Anastasia, Dirty Dancing, Cinderella, Cabaret, Houdini, The Prince of Egypt… And as an associate sound designer, some of his credits are The Sound of Music, BackBeat, Legally Blonde, Saturday Night Fever, Street of Dreams, The Producers…

He is an associate sound designer for Mamma Mia! in Europe and Asia, having staged this production in venues such as Moscow, Helsinki, Aarhus, Berlin, Oberhausen, Saint Petersburg, Guangzhou, Copenhagen, Oslo, Vienna, Milan, Madrid or Barcelona.

He was the sound supervisor for Stage Entertainment Spain from 2003 to 2011. During this period he worked on productions such as Cats, Cabaret, Beauty and the Beast, Les Misérables, Chicago, Saturday Night Fever, Mamma Mia, High School Musical, Victor Victoria, among others. This collaboration continues to this day in musicals such as The Bodyguard, Anastasia, Tina and Aladdin.

In his facet as a sound system designer he has worked in a large number of clubs (he has extensive knowledge in immersive sound) and theatres. He has  done the renewal of the sound system of one of the most prominent venues of the Spanish National Theatre, Teatro María Guerrero.

Poti Martin also has a large background as recording studio engineer, having worked 3 years at Boundary Row Studios in London. He also owned a recording studio in Madrid and a sound rental company, having designed the sound for innumerable events including a large selection of artists.

In addition, he also has large experience as lecturer and teacher, giving master classes and conferences of theatre sound design and mixing.
